Room Temperature Insulin

dr_weissIso Fellow Michael Weiss is chair of the Department of Biochemistry at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine and professor of medicine in the Endocrine Division.  Dr. Weiss’s research is enhancing the care of patients with diabetes mellitus through the development of novel ultra-stable and receptor-isoform-specific analogs of insulin. These analogs may make feasible an implantable closed-loop insulin pump as an artificial beta cell and may enable tight glycemic control without weight gain. Dr. Weiss also is investigating the genetics of neonatal diabetes in an effort to circumvent the need for lifelong insulin therapy in this subset of patients.
