Origins and medicine are being linked to create a new discipline of evolutionary medicine.

The principles of the science of origins bring a discipline that asks questions about the sequential addition of compEvolutionary Medicinelexities, changes in basic relations through mutations, survival of fit processes, cells and species, emergence of infectious agents that coexist with nature and humans; and emergence of diseases based on sudden challenges to the human species by the environment, and the evolutionary impact of aging.

The primordial essential benefit of mutations in all forms of life provides the seeds of disease and shortened lifespan but also new mechanisms of resistance to pathogens and drugs. The evolutionary medicine initiative will bring together broad disciplines of medicine to establish a dialogue with experts in evolution and origins to provide a cross-disciplinary platform for discovery and new ways of approaching old, unresolved problems in medicine.
